Mrs. Bramlet's 5th Grade

Mrs. Bramlet

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself!  My name is Elaine Bramlet and I have worked as an aide (early years) and for the last 17 years as a classroom teacher here in Pope County.  My husband, Tony, and I live in the northern part of the county.  He is retired from coal mining and construction.  We have one daughter, Melissa, who is a youth educator for the University of Illinois.  On December 17, 2014 she gave us our greatest gift!!  Coy David Wilson, our first grandchild, was born that day.  When I am not working on school things I love to read and enjoy the outdoors.

Highlights as we are enjoying Spring Break!  For the week of April 4th/11th

Reading: We will be back in the Reading book and will work this week with "Grizzly Bear's Family Book" and next week will be studying the endangered Golden Lion Tamarin.

Spelling:  We are currently in Unit 32 and the week of the 11th will be working with Unit 33.

Science:  We are working in Chapter 17-Sound and Light and will then be returning to Chapter 1 to begin Life Sciences.  There will be a test on Chapter 17 sometime the week of the 11th.

Social Studies:  We will be taking a test on Chapter 13 the week we return from break. We will then be working on Chapters 14 and 15 with worksheets, but no tests.

English: We are working with adjectives and will be in that chapter for the next two weeks.  We will test and then move on to adverbs.  As soon as we finish adverbs, we will be writing for the rest of the year.  I am excited about our writing as I have many students in this class who are excellent writers!!

REMINDER!!!!!!!  We will be going to the Dixon Springs Ag Center on Thursday, April 21st.  Permission slips have been sent home and need to be returned as soon as possible.  On Thursday, April 28th we will go to the Carson Center to see Jack Hanna's Wild Animal Show and then will go to Noble Park to play and eat lunch.  More information will be sent!
